Second murder suspect arrested in Wickham Drive shooting

The second murder suspect wanted in the Jan. 24 shooting on Wickham Drive was taken into custody on Friday, authorities said.

Carl James McClendon, 35, was apprehended one day after 36-year-old Dewayne Marquis Jones was arrested in the shooting. He was booked into the Muscogee County Jail for a 9 a.m. Saturday hearing in Columbus Recorder's Court.

Columbus police were called to Wickham Drive around 10:52 p.m. Jan. 24 to investigate a shooting that left three injured. All of the victims were rushed to Midtown Medical Center, where 24-year-old Lashay Ford was pronounced dead at 11:31 p.m.

Witnesses at the scene described three men traveling in a gray or silver car. No other suspects have been named in the shooting.
