Two face gambling charges after warrants served at Columbus business
Editor’s note: As of April 20, 2020, the charges against Sagar Shah and Laben Lakdawala were dropped in Muscogee County Superior Court, according to court records.
Two people face gambling charges after outstanding warrants were served Tuesday at a Henry Avenue business, Columbus police said.
Laben Lakdawala, 58, and Sagar Dhiren Shah, 28, both of Columbus, were arrested about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Shways, 1167 Henry Ave. Each was charged with one count of commercial gambling and keeping a gambling place. Both were booked into the Muscogee County Jail and later released on bond.
Their arrests stemmed from a police investigation at the convenience store that ended with the arrests.
