Columbus police investigating homicide on 17th Avenue
Columbus police are on the scene of a homicide in the 400 block of 17th Avenue off of Cusseta Road.
Kenneth Holloway Jr., 25, was pronounced dead at the scene of a gunshot wound to the chest at 10:45 p.m. Saturday, according to Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan. Bryan said Holloway was found on the street outside of 406 17th Ave.
Holloway’s body will be transported to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime lab in Decatur for an autopsy.
This is the 12th homicide of the year in Columbus. It comes days after Demonde Donya Dicks Jr., 24, was found shot to death at Double Churches Park near the basketball court. Jacquawn Clark, 19, was arrested Friday and charged with the murder in the case. Authorities have issued arrest warrants for Derain Waller, 25, and Akeveius Powell, 21, said police Maj. Gil Slouchick.
