Brother accused in West Point shooting that killed 17-year-old boy
Police have identified the person accused of killing 17-year-old Juantae Harper Tuesday morning at Oaks Terrace Apartments as his brother, according to a news release from the West Point Police Department.
Authorities said Carderius Harper, the accused, has spoken to investigators and they expect him to surrender later today.
Police Capt. Kevin Carter said officers were called to the apartment complex at 700 Ave. East around 10 a.m. Tuesday after Juantae Harper was shot in the residence. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:49 a.m.
Further details about the events that led up to his death have not been released.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Troup County Sheriff’s Office, LaGrange Police Department and the Georgia State Patrol are assisting the West Point Police Department in this investigation.
