Dr. James Andrews to be inducted into business hall of fame at University of Alabama

Dr. James Andrews is one of six business professionals who will be inducted into the Alabama Business Hall of Fame on the campus of the University of Alabama.

The announcement was made by the university’s Culverhouse College of Commerce and reported on the school’s website.

A respected orthopedic surgeon, Andrews, who once practiced at the Hughston Clinic in Columbus and is team doctor for the Auburn University football team, is being honored as one of the founding members of Andrews Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Center as well as being co-founder of the American Sports Medicine Institute.

Also being honored is Bill Battle who graduated from Alabama. Battle was football coach at the University of Tennessee and athletic director at Alabama. He founded Collegiate Licensing Company which Alabama says created the industry of collegiate licensing.

Dr. Dorothy Davidson, the CEO of Davidson Technologies, is being inducted as are Charles Adair who is the president of Kowaliga Capital, John D. Johns, who was recently elected executive chairman of Protective Life Corporation, and Don Logan, an Auburn graduate who is the CEO of Time Inc. and chairman of Time Warner Media and Communciations.
