Tropical Storm Irma update: MCSD to remain closed Tuesday
The Muscogee County School District will remain closed through Tuesday, MCSD announced Monday morning, as the Columbus area deals with Tropical Storm Irma.
“The latest weather advisories project that our area will continue to experience high winds, heavy rains and the potential of tornadoes through Monday night,” MCSD’s news release says. “Given the timing of the storm’s impact to our area, the likelihood of downed trees and power outages, and the inability to complete a timely assessment of damage, all Muscogee County Public schools will remain closed and school-related activities cancelled through Tuesday, September 12.”
