Chattahoochee Valley Sports Hall of Fame announces Class of 2018
The Chattahoochee Valley Sports Hall of Fame will add nine new members as part of its Class of 2018, chairman Jim White announced Tuesday.
The Hall of Fame will induct Paul B. (Pop) Austin; Dan Kirkland Sr.; James T. Skipworth Jr.; Rudy Allen; Sam McQuagg; Scott Miller; Angela Jerman Ormsby; Karen Hill Waters and Moe Williams in a ceremony Saturday, February 3, 2018, at the Columbus Convention and Trade Center.
The upcoming Hall of Fame class is broken down into two groups: The Pre-Modern era — which spans from 1876 to 1946 — and the Modern and Current eras.
The Pre-Modern era consists of former Columbus Recreation Department athletic director and Columbus High School coach Paul B. (Pop) Austin; former Columbus High three-sport athlete and Georgia basketball player Dan Kirkland Sr. and former Columbus High three-sport athlete and Georgia football player James T. Skipworth Jr.
Kendrick High School four-sport athlete and Georgia Tech football player Rudy Allen; former NASCAR driver Sam McQuagg; Columbus State baseball and boy’s basketball play-by-play announcer Scott Miller; former Georgia golfer and current Point head women’s golf coach Angela Jerman Ormsby; Former Columbus High school swimmer and current Columbus head swim coach Karen Hill Waters and former Spencer High School and NFL running back Moe Williams make up the Modern and Current eras.
