‘December-like cold blast’ coming to GA soon. Here’s when, what to expect
While fall weather just started in Georgia, it may actually start to feel like winter soon.
According to AccuWeather experts, “a strong surge of cold air is expected to push southward” soon. Here’s what to know:
Is winter weather headed for GA?
A heavy storm producing cold air is set to blast December-like weather into Georgia and other parts of the South this weekend and next week.
“Near-freezing nighttime lows could reach the Panhandle of Florida. This chilly blast could bring the first hard frost or hard freeze to some areas. Much of Florida will feel the chill by next Tuesday,” said AccuWeather meteorologist Paul Pastelok.
Pastelok and other AccuWeather meteorologists predict lows in the 30s this weekend and into early next week. However, Tuesday morning will be the coldest, with lows that could reach the 20s.
“Temperatures will feel more like mid-December or even Christmastime in many places next week,” Pastelok said.
So, will it snow?
Although temperatures will be 10-15 degrees below historical averages, snow isn’t in the forecast for Southern states next week.
What do other experts predict?
Well, it looks to be much of the same pattern. According to the National Weather Service, temperatures in Georgia will be 70-80% below normal averages for Nov. 10-14.
The Weather Channel meteorologists are also predicting the “coldest air of the season” to come next week.
