It’s time to crank up the AC if you haven’t already because some serious scorching days are ahead.

According to AccuWeather experts, warm air is blasting through the Carolinas and in combination with wind directions, heat is expected to reach northeast and south areas this weekend.

So, how hot will it get in Georgia this weekend? Here’s what to know:

“High temperatures are forecast to soar as much as 20-30 degrees above the historical average for mid-April. Temperatures in the 80s and 90s are more of an early summer feel, more common high temperatures for late May or June,” said AccuWeather senior meteorologist Matt Benz.

Currently, 88 is the high expected on Friday and Saturday.

Although it will be pool weather on Friday and Saturday, there is growing concern for drought conditions. AccuWeather experts said Georgia and northern Florida are in an “exceptional drought,” and widespread rain is not expected until late April.

Another concern: fires.

The National Weather Service strongly discourages outdoor burning for much of north and middle Georgia areas as “fires that develop could spread rapidly.”

The hot won’t be sticking around for too long though because on Sunday, it is expected to drop back to normal April-like temperatures (around 70 degrees).
