This Friday, Jan. 17, Dateline NBC was set to air an explosive episode about respected Georgia attorney, Gary Farris, whose wife was recently sentenced to life in prison for his murder.

The episode “Little Patch of Perfect” was scheduled to air on NBC at 9 p.m. (8 p.m. CT) and on Peacock the following day. It investigates the chilling 2018 case of Gary Farris, nicknamed “Big Daddy,” who was murdered by his wife, Melody. Prosecutors argued she killed her husband and tried to blame their son, Scott, claiming she had been concealing that truth for six years.

Scott denied the allegations, testifying against his mother in court.

Melody Farris was convicted of malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, concealing the death of another and making a false statement in the death of her husband in the December 2024 trial.

The salacious case, dubbed “The Burn Pile” murder made headlines after jarring details of Melody’s affairs were revealed and gruesome phone calls were caught on tape by the Cherokee County’s Sheriff’s office.

Keith Morrison, long-time host of NBC’s Dateline, reports with interviews from Gary’s family members, including his sons Chris and Scott, and his siblings, John and Sherry.
