Departing Auburn basketball player finds new school
Former Auburn basketball player Desean Murray is transferring to Western Kentucky. Murray announced his decision to leave the Tigers on April 10, though at the time he was undecided on whether he would play professionally or remain at the collegiate level.
Murray's decision to attend Western Kentucky means it will be his third college in four years.
Murray transferred to Auburn from Presbyterian, where he was a Big South First Team selection in the 2015-2016 season. After sitting out the next season at Auburn, he returned to the court in 2017-2018, starting all 34 games and averaging 10.1 points and a team-high 6.7 rebounds at the power forward position.
The junior’s play helped the Tigers grab a share of the SEC regular season title and make the NCAA Tournament for the first time in 15 seasons.
"Auburn has lead (sic) me to many great memories, experiences, and relationships that I will forever cherish," Murray wrote when he announced his departure. "I appreciate the amazing opportunity to play at one of the best schools in the country and to be coach by Coach Bruce Pearl and staff."
