This popular restaurant has closed after serving Columbus for 53 years

A legacy restaurant in Columbus has closed.

Rosehill Seafood, 2621 Hamilton Road, was renowned for its catfish and hushpuppies. When the Ledger-Enquirer called the restaurant Monday, the voicemail message said, “We are now closed until further notice.”

The L-E didn’t reach a Rosehill Seafood representative for comment before publication, but CNAW2News reported Sunday that restaurant president Jeff Lunsford confirmed it closed as of Saturday.

Lunsford told CNAW2News it’s been difficult to maintain a full staff since the COVID-19 pandemic.

Rosehill Seafood, which opened in 1972, has been known for its fair prices, home-style cooking and friendly atmosphere, according to the restaurant’s reviews.
