You voted, and we listened. Here’s our review of Bmoski’s Flavor in Columbus
Near the roundabout on St. Marys Road in Columbus is a place with some of the best wings I’ve ever had.
Last week, we posted a poll in the Extra Access channel on our Facebook page, asking which place we should review next, and y’all chose Bmoski’s Flavor Wings & Cafe. So L-E visual journalist Mike Haskey and I hopped in my truck and headed over.
I could tell it would be good as soon as I smelled the food when I walked in the door. The inside of the restaurant has an amazing aesthetic with paintings of food directly on the walls.
Unfortunately, they were out of my beloved chitterlings/chitlins (boiled pig intestines). So I decided to instead go with the wings and shrimp platter. It came with fried shrimp, six wings of your choice and a side. I chose fried onion rings.
I asked the cashier to tell me her favorite wing flavor because I never had eaten at Bmoski’s. She recommended the spicy honey garlic. And that’s what I ordered.
Writing on one of the walls in the restaurant says they put their soul in their food. The wings definitely made mine feel a lot better.
The spicy honey garlic wings were some of the best wings I’ve had in my life. The wings had an initial sweetness from the honey, which then changed to a slight burn as the spiciness set in.
The garlic served as a nice transition between the sweet and spicy, but it didn’t overpower the flavor of the spicy honey.
I’d definitely recommend plenty of napkins to remedy the sticky situation that is bound to occur. After I started eating the wings, I didn’t want to stop.
The shrimp were perfectly golden brown with a perfect amount of seasoning. The most surprising thing about the shrimp and onion rings was how they were not greasy or soggy.
Too often, fried food becomes too greasy — and then soggy — after the drive from the restaurant to wherever you’re eating the food. The onion rings and shrimp still were perfectly crispy and crunchy by the time we took the food back to the office to eat.
The onion rings were crunchy, salty and the perfect pairing to the spicy honey garlic wings.
Mike got the classic Buffalo wings with fried rice as his side. He said the food was “solid” and he’d definitely go back.
I’d definitely suggest Bmoski’s if you’re in need of a wing spot to satisfy your wing needs in the upcoming college football season. As always, Roll Tide.
