Two new restaurants are preparing open to Midland.

The eateries will be within walking distance of each other, both at 6516 Kitten Lake Drive.

The first is a Surchueros Fresh Mex, a Tex-Mex restaurant. It will be in the former Moe’s building in unit E6, according to Columbus property records. Surchueros is a restaurant chain headquartered in Alpharetta, Georgia, with several locations across Georgia, Tennessee and Florida.

Construction and renovations have begun, as of Sept. 10.

The other restaurant is called Chickchickporkpork, a Korean and Japanese fusion restaurant started in Opelika, Alabama. It will be in unit E1, where The Simple Greek was the last tenant.

It’s exact opening date isn’t clear, but in a Facebook comment on the Columbus, GA Foodies page, the owners said the restaurant is “coming very soon.”

“We are coming to the space where Simple Greek was,” the full comment says. “It’s a Korean and Japanese fusion grill restaurant including K-BBQ chicken and food, coming very soon! Please spread the word!”

Owners of both restaurants did not respond to the Ledger-Enquirer’s requests for comment before publication.
