This Columbus hidden gem has reopened. Restaurant owner talks about the changes

After temporarily closing, a midtown Columbus hidden gem of a restaurant has reopened.

In September, a sign was posted on the front door of Midtown Cafe, formerly named Midtown Cafe and Bakery, 2357 Warm Springs Road, announcing its sudden closure due to staffing issues. The restaurant first opened in May.

Perry Buck, owner of Midtown Cafe, confirmed to the Ledger-Enquirer those issues have been resolved.

“We’re rebuilding our business,” he said. “It’s kind of like starting over.”

Buck said he has hired an entirely new staff of two full-time employees and one part-time employee. The new team is working to streamline the cooking to suit customers with busier schedules and shorter lunch breaks.

“We’re on a learning curve of trying to get people to call down orders and texting them when it’s ready to pick up,” Buck said.

Buck changed the name to more accurately reflect the customer experience, but there are no changes to the menu. Buck said customers shouldn’t expect any other major changes.

“What I’m trying to do here is very simple,” Buck said. “I want to sell great coffee, good food and develop good relationships with our customers.”

On social media, customers have expressed excitement about the restaurant’s reopening.

Ann Patterson commented, “I went yesterday, I was thrilled. I was treated very nicely by everyone there. Atmosphere great. The food was great. I really love that thy have grab and go for lunch. I’ll definitely definitely be back!!”

Amy Lewark posted a glowing review in the Columbus GA Foodies Facebook group: “I tried their sausage, egg and cheese croissant, and it was next level.”

Buck emphasized he appreciates the community’s support and encourages former customers to return.

“I love the fact that we’ve been well-supported by local people,” Buck said. “For every small, locally owned business, it’s so gratifying to see people from your area coming in and helping you out and doing their part to keep local businesses [in the area].”

Midtown Cafe is open Mondays through Fridays from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
