Ever wanted a savory doughnut? New flavors available at this Columbus shop
Parlor Doughnuts is shaking up the local food scene this week with the debut of its new product line: savory doughnuts.
Launching on Jan. 20, including the Parlor Doughnuts location at Highside Market, 211 13th St. in Columbus, this menu addition introduces savory selections as a fresh take on the traditional doughnut experience. The new options feature doughnuts with flavor profiles designed to appeal to adventurous eaters and anyone curious to try something unusual.
“This launch allows us to stay true to our doughnut roots while expanding the category in a way that drives new afternoon and snack-time occasions,” Justin Riat, chief growth officer for Parlor Doughnuts, said in a news release. “It’s an exciting example of how we continue to innovate with purpose — giving our franchise owners a compelling new product that helps grow sales beyond the morning rush.”
Jay Wilson, Jeff Crowder and Mark Hardman are the franchise owners of two Parlor Doughnuts locations in Georgia: Columbus and Sharpsburg. Crowder told the Ledger-Enquirer the savory doughnuts bring more excitement to what Parlor has to offer.
“We’ve been testing them for several weeks now,” he said. “The employees and customers are very excited about it. We already have breakfast items, and now [the savory doughnuts] give us a lunch and dinner option for the guest and also give us a lot of catering opportunities.”
Six flavors of the savory doughnuts will be available: Margherita, OG Pepperoni, Pig & Fig, Hawaiian BBQ Chicken, Chicken Bacon Ranch and Buffalo Chicken, according to the news release.
Parlor also will offer Savory Minis, available exclusively in boxes of 10 or as part of a Combo Box. Each box of minis includes a complimentary dip: red sauce, beer cheese, ranch or alfredo.
These products will be available daily, starting at 11 a.m.
Crowder recommends customers try the chicken bacon ranch or the buffalo chicken flavors. They are “out of this world,” he said.
“It was very robust, very flavorful and very filling,” Crowder said.
Parlor Doughnuts is based in Evansville, Indiana, and has 100 locations nationwide, according to their Instagram account.
“We’ve been (in Columbus) over two years,” Crowder said, “and we really appreciate the community for supporting us so far.”
