Girl Scout cookie season starts in Columbus — with a new flavor. Where to buy

Girl Scout cookie season, Feb. 6-March 8, is starting in Columbus — with a new flavor.

They are called Exploremores, billed as a rocky road ice cream-inspired sandwich cookie, filled with chocolate, marshmallow and toasted almond-flavored crème. They join the familiar lineup of Girl Scout cookie varieties:

  • Adventurefuls: brownie-inspired cookies topped with caramel-flavored crème with a hint of sea salt.
  • Caramel Chocolate Chip: gluten-free and chewy, with caramel, semisweet chocolate chips and a hint of sea salt.
  • Caramel deLites and Samoas: crisp cookies with caramel, coconut and chocolatey stripes. Samoas have darker chocolate.
  • Do-si-dos (Peanut Butter Sandwiches): crunchy oatmeal sandwich cookies filled with peanut butter.
  • Lemonades: savory shortbread cookies topped with lemon-flavored icing.
  • Lemon-Ups: crispy lemon cookies baked with inspiring messages on top.
  • Peanut Butter Patties and Tagalongs: crispy cookies layered with peanut butter and covered with a chocolatey coating. The key difference is that Tagalongs have more peanut butter and Peanut Butter Patties, despite their name, have more chocolate.
  • Thin Mints: crisp, chocolate cookies dipped in a mint chocolatey coating.
  • Toffee-tastic: gluten-free buttery cookies with sweet and crunchy toffee bits.
  • Trefoils: shortbread cookies inspired by the original Girl Scout Cookie recipe.

Where to buy Girl Scout cookies in the Columbus area

The list of locations to buy Girl Scout cookies in the Columbus area is lengthy, but the GirlScouts.org website makes it easy to find them, as well as the dates and times, by typing in your ZIP code.

Regardless of where you buy your cookies, Ellie Riddell, marketing and social media specialist for the Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia, wants you to know that all proceeds from these sales remain in that troop’s community.

“It’s teaching the girls entrepreneurship, and it’s the largest girl-led entrepreneurship program in the world, so it really helps girls develop those essential life skills,” she told the Ledger-Enquirer. “They learn money management, they learn decision-making, business ethics. They learn customer service and things like that, which will benefit the girls in the future.”

Exploremores are the first new Girl Scout Cookie since the Raspberry Rally debuted in 2023 — but was discontinued after only one year.

As for whether Exploremores are a worthy replacement for the S’mores and the Toast-Yay varieties, which the Girls Scouts retired after last season, Riddell said this new option is “very delicious. I’ve had it, and I love it. It’s all about encouraging girls and families and customers to explore and adventure, which is all part of the Girl Scout spirit.”
