Del Taco closes Georgia and Alabama restaurants. What about Columbus area locations?

Georgia and Alabama Del Taco locations have closed due to their parent company filing for bankruptcy.

The Del Taco locations at 4418 Hamilton Road in Columbus and at 1212 E 280 Bypass in Phenix City permanently closed. Both restaurants have removed their opening hours from their Facebook pages and changed their status to ‘permanently closed.’

The closures span outside the Chattahoochee Valley region. Del Taco has removed all of its Georgia locations from its website.

The Del Taco in Columbus, at the corner of Hamilton Road and Manchester Expressway, has closed. The doors were locked and there was an “Out of Business” sign on the main entrance and at the drive-thru window Feb. 19, 2026.

The California-based company has faced financial downturn in recent years, with weaker sales and several franchisees filing for bankruptcy.

Del Taco franchisee Matadoor Restaurant Group owns the Georgia and Alabama locations. The franchisee filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in July 2025.

The company did not respond to the L-E’s request for comment before publication.
