Columbus restaurant closed temporarily for an upgrade. What customers can expect

The owner of Country Road Buffet, at 2509 Airport Thruway in Columbus, has shared more details about the restaurant’s temporary closure and expansion.

Betty Torre said her restaurant’s customers had been requesting an expansion for about six months.

“The customers have been consistent, and I think we owe it to them to have [the restaurant space] a bit better,” Torres said. “Especially on Sundays, there was no space at all, and when we did fill up, everyone was elbow to elbow. There was no space for removing and cleaning. I think we owe it to the customers.”

Torres said the restaurant has taken over the former H&R Block unit, adding about 2,000 square feet to the restaurant. The total square footage of the restaurant with the expansion will be 5,200.

“We’re taking the floors out, taking the ceiling out, adding new food bars that are going to be bigger,” she said. “We’re replacing everything, pretty much, so it’s gonna look completely different.”

Torres said she plans to reopen the restaurant the second week of June. Details about the reopening celebration will be available on Country Road Buffet’s Facebook page.
