New film distribution company launches in Columbus with projects planned for early 2021

A brand new film distribution company based in Columbus launched on Thursday with a local resident serving in the top leadership role.

Fall Line Entertainment will primarily focus on faith-based and family friendly films, and “produce and distribute films for theatrical release,” according to a release from the company. Some of those projects will launch in early 2021.

“Columbus has seen a large amount of film and production business sent its way thanks to the logjam of work in the Atlanta area,” president and CEO Crystal Trawick, who’s also a Columbus native, said in the release. Trawick most recently worked as the COO of Fun Academy Studios, also based in Columbus.

The company also plans to help filmmakers navigate Georgia’s tax incentives, and assist with production, distribution and in-theater marketing, according to the release.

In past years, Fox’s “Hidden Figures,” Disney’s “Need for Speed” and Paramount’s “Fighting Temptations” have all been filmed, at least partially, in Columbus. “Survive the Night,” a film starring Bruce Willis and shot in the Columbus area, was recently released in theaters.

“Some may see this a challenging time to get a new company off the ground, but fortunately it’s given me the availability of highly experienced industry professionals to come onboard,” Trawick said in the release.
