Two major retailers, including first prototype store in Georgia, coming to Columbus center
A Columbus shopping center is adding two major retailers.
Burlington and Conn’s are scheduled to open new stores at Columbus Park Crossing in October, the shopping center’s property manager and leasing agent, Retail Specialists, announced in a news release.
The stores will occupy subdivided portions of the former Toys R Us location.
Conn’s, a specialty retailer of furniture, mattresses, and home appliances, will open its HomePlus prototype — the first of its kind in Georgia — in 21,000 square feet.
Burlington, an off-price clothing retailer originally named Burlington Coat Factory but now also selling home and beauty products, will use 28,000 square feet to open its another location in Columbus, in addition to the one that opened in April on Macon Road at Cross County Plaza.
The Burlington store on Airport Thruway at Britt David Shopping Center will move to to Columbus Park Crossing when that renovation is finished, the store’s assistant manager, who declined to say her name, told the Ledger-Enquirer.
“The Burlington and Conn’s deals follow recent openings from pOpshelf and Boot Barn, collectively backfilling almost 70,000 square feet with first-class national retailers,” said Daniel Giordano, senior director of retail for Columbus Park Crossing owner AVR Realty, said in the news release. “. . . We look forward to announcing more new leases soon.”
The shopping center, with more than 50 tenants, has a few vacancies ranging from 2,000-4,800 square feet, “ideal for retail and service-based retailers,” Beau Young, executive vice president of Retail Specialists, said in the news release. “Columbus Park Crossing continues to be a premiere shopping destination serving consumers throughout Western Georgia. We are continually trying to meet the needs of our shoppers with the new retail offerings they deserve.”
