These Columbus companies rank best in state, says Forbes. Did your employer make the list?
Forbes Magazine compiled a list of best places to work in the U.S. and Georgia was represented fairly well with three Columbus-based employers making the cut.
Forbes enlisted the research firm, Statista to survey more than 16,000 workers employed at companies of 500 or more employees. Responses came in from all 50 states and Washington D.C.
Companies that received the highest scores based on the below criteria made the list.

How likely are you to recommend your employer?
Evaluate the employers you’ve worked for within the last two years.
Rate organizations they knew within their industry or through friends or family who worked there.
The list includes a mix of national corporations, regional companies and Georgia-based organizations across various industries.
Forbes explains its methodology as such, “Greater weight was given to more recent data and to the responses from their current employees within the state. Companies that received the highest scores in each state made our list, with each state ranking between three and 101 employers, depending on the size of the state and the number of responses received.”
Which Columbus employers made the list?
These three companies are key players in the Columbus workforce, and now they’ve been ranked by current and former employees as some of the best places to work in Georgia.
Global Payments (19) - In 2019, Global Payments merged with Total System Services, Inc (TSYS) in a $21 billion deal and maintained dual headquarters in Columbus and Atlanta. It is a world leader in payment technology and software solutions.
Muscogee County School District (66) - The district initially formed in 1866 when the City Council of Columbus passed a resolution to provide public schools immediately after the Civil War. It currently serves more than 30,000 students.
AFLAC (39) - American Family Life Assurance Company (AFLAC) was founded in 1955 by John, Paul and William Amos. As of 2023, the company had total assets exceeding $130 billion dollars and insured more than 50 million people worldwide.
