Fort Benning has confirmed a sixth case of the novel coronavirus tied to the Army post.

The person is a “local off-post resident” and has been in self-quarantined in a residence off-post since March 19, the release states. The person has followed protective measures set forth by the CDC. Those who have had contact with the person will be notified to isolate in their homes.

This case will count toward the Muscogee County total, which as of the 7 p.m. update from Georgia’s Department of Public Health sits at 7.

The most recently connected case to Fort Benning was announced Friday when the post confirmed a second soldier tested positive for COVID-19.
