Muscogee County and surrounding areas report 1,497 coronavirus cases. Here’s a list.

Editor’s note: While the Ledger-Enquirer reported a fifth death in Muscogee County related to COVID-19, that death was not included in DPH’s 7 p.m. update.

Muscogee County and its surrounding areas have 1,497 confirmed cases of the new coronavirus as of the 7 p.m. Sunday update from Georgia’s Department of Public Health.

There are now 71 coronavirus-related deaths in the 18-county area.

The department of public health reported 275 confirmed cases and four deaths in Muscogee County on Sunday.

Muscogee ranks No. 17 statewide for total coronavirus cases. Sumter County is the only other local county that ranks higher (No. 11) with 356 total cases.

Georgia’s West-Central Health District covers 16 counties: Chattahoochee, Clay, Crisp, Dooly, Harris, Macon, Marion, Muscogee, Quitman, Randolph, Schley, Stewart, Sumter, Talbot, Taylor and Webster.

Troup and Meriwether counties are not in the West-Central Health District but because of their proximity to Columbus, the Ledger-Enquirer will track those numbers as well.
