Muscogee now 12th in Georgia for total COVID-19 cases. Here’s latest update on our area
Muscogee County and its surrounding areas reported a total of 2,184 coronavirus cases in the 1 p.m. Friday update from the Georgia Department of Public Health.
Between 1 p.m. Thursday and 1 p.m. Friday, 60 new cases were reported. There are now a total of 125 coronavirus-related deaths in the area.
Muscogee County is now 12th in the state for total number of COVID-19 cases.

- Harris: 78, 4, 15
- Meriwether: 77, 2, 11
- Marion: 48, 2, 8
- Stewart: 40, 0, 12
Talbot: 33, 1, 11
- Clay: 32, 2, 5
- Taylor: 22, 2, 8
- Chattahoochee: 20, 0, 5
- Schley: 16, 1, 7

Georgia’s West-Central Health District covers 16 counties: Chattahoochee, Clay, Crisp, Dooly, Harris, Macon, Marion, Muscogee, Quitman, Randolph, Schley, Stewart, Sumter, Talbot, Taylor and Webster.
Troup and Meriwether counties are not in the West-Central Health District but because of their proximity to Columbus, the Ledger-Enquirer will track those numbers as well.
Alabama
The number of novel coronavirus cases in Alabama has now reached 13,476, according to the Alabama Department of Public Health’s 3 p.m. EST Friday update.
The number of reported cases in Lee County stands at 468, while Russell County’s total stands at 118.
There have been 177,079 tests done statewide. Private labs are not required to report negative tests — meaning it’s possible that the actual number of tests conducted is greater.
The state reports 536 COVID-19-related deaths Friday and 1,553 hospitalizations. The state of Alabama now reports the number of presumed recoveries from COVID-19 on a weekly basis.
According to the Alabama Department of Health, there have been 7,951 presumed recoveries throughout the state.
