COVID-19 cases in Muscogee County now exceed 500. Here’s latest update on our area
Muscogee County and its surrounding areas reported a total of 2,236 coronavirus cases in the 1 p.m. Saturday update from the Georgia Department of Public Health.
Between 1 p.m. Friday and 1 p.m. Saturday, 52 new cases were reported. There are now a total of 126 coronavirus-related deaths in the area.
Muscogee County is now 11th in the state for total number of COVID-19 cases.

- Crisp: 211, 7, 37
- Randolph: 170, 19, 31
- Dooly: 165, 12, 35
- Macon: 95, 6, 33
- Harris: 79, 4, 15
- Meriwether: 78, 2, 11
- Marion: 49, 2, 9
- Stewart: 41, 0, 12
Talbot: 34, 1, 11
- Clay: 34, 2, 5
- Taylor: 21, 2, 8
- Chattahoochee: 20, 0, 5
- Schley: 16, 1, 7
- Webster: 11, 1, 4
- Quitman: 10, 1, 4

Georgia’s West-Central Health District covers 16 counties: Chattahoochee, Clay, Crisp, Dooly, Harris, Macon, Marion, Muscogee, Quitman, Randolph, Schley, Stewart, Sumter, Talbot, Taylor and Webster.
Troup and Meriwether counties are not in the West-Central Health District but because of their proximity to Columbus, the Ledger-Enquirer will track those numbers as well.
Alabama
The number of novel coronavirus cases in Alabama has now reached 13,839, according to the Alabama Department of Public Health’s 1 p.m. EST Saturday update.
The number of reported cases in Lee County stands at 471, while Russell County’s total stands at 124.
There have been 182,107 tests done statewide. Private labs are not required to report negative tests — meaning it’s possible that the actual number of tests conducted is greater.
The state reports 541 COVID-19-related deaths Friday and 1,583 hospitalizations. The state of Alabama now reports the number of presumed recoveries from COVID-19 on a weekly basis.
According to the Alabama Department of Health, there have been 7,951 presumed recoveries throughout the state.
