COVID-19 numbers in the area for June 17
GEORGIA
Muscogee County and its surrounding areas reported a total of 4,196 coronavirus cases in the 3 p.m. Wednesday update from the Georgia Department of Public Health. This is an increase of 124 cases from yesterday’s update.
181 total deaths were reported in the area.

Chattahoochee: 304, 0, 7
- Crisp: 249, 11, 41
Harris: 226, 6, 29
- Dooly: 193, 12, 41
- Randolph: 191, 23, 36
Meriwether: 135, 3, 19
- Macon: 112, 8, 36
Stewart: 70, 1, 14
- Marion: 66, 2, 11
- Clay: 53, 2, 5
- Talbot: 52, 2, 13
- Taylor: 26, 2, 10
- Schley: 20, 1, 7
Webster: 16, 1, 4
- Quitman: 14, 1, 4

Georgia’s West-Central Health District covers 16 counties: Chattahoochee, Clay, Crisp, Dooly, Harris, Macon, Marion, Muscogee, Quitman, Randolph, Schley, Stewart, Sumter, Talbot, Taylor and Webster.
Troup and Meriwether counties are not in the West-Central Health District but because of their proximity to Columbus, the Ledger-Enquirer will track those numbers as well.
ALABAMA
The number of novel coronavirus cases in Alabama has now reached 26,914 according to the Alabama Department of Public Health’s dashboard at 4:30 p.m. EST Wednesday.
The number of reported cases in Lee County stands at 753 while Russell County’s total stands at 313.
There have been 310,325 tests performed statewide. The state reported 784 total COVID-19-related deaths as of Wednesday.
The state of Alabama now reports the number of presumed recoveries from COVID-19 on a weekly basis. On June 17, the state reported 15,974 presumed recoveries throughout Alabama.

Tuesday Morning will soon close its doors for good in Columbus.
The location at 3201 Macon Road is one of eight Georgia stores closing as part of the company’s bankruptcy filing. The company cited COVID-19 as a reason for the closures.
