COVID-19 numbers in the area for June 18
GEORGIA
Muscogee County and its surrounding areas reported a total of 4,261 coronavirus cases in the 3 p.m. Thursday update from the Georgia Department of Public Health. This is an increase of 65 cases from yesterday’s update.
185 total deaths were reported in the area, an increase of four deaths since yesterday’s update.
Here’s a breakdown by county of total cases, deaths and hospitalizations:

- Macon: 112, 8, 36
Stewart: 71, 1, 14
- Marion: 68, 3, 12
- Clay: 55, 2, 5
- Talbot: 53, 2, 13
- Taylor: 27, 2, 10
- Schley: 20, 1, 7

Georgia’s West-Central Health District covers 16 counties: Chattahoochee, Clay, Crisp, Dooly, Harris, Macon, Marion, Muscogee, Quitman, Randolph, Schley, Stewart, Sumter, Talbot, Taylor and Webster.
Troup and Meriwether counties are not in the West-Central Health District but because of their proximity to Columbus, the Ledger-Enquirer will track those numbers as well.
ALABAMA
The number of novel coronavirus cases in Alabama has now reached 27,796 according to the Alabama Department of Public Health’s dashboard at 4 p.m. EST Thursday.
The number of reported cases in Lee County stands at 784 while Russell County’s total stands at 327.
There have been 322,124 tests performed statewide. The state reported 801 total COVID-19-related deaths as of Thursday.
The state of Alabama now reports the number of presumed recoveries from COVID-19 on a weekly basis. On June 17, the state reported 15,974 presumed recoveries throughout Alabama.

Where to get free COVID-19 test this weekend
The Columbus Health Department is offering free COVID-19 testing at the back parking lot on 11th Avenue and Center Street.
Testing is for Georgia residents only.

Georgia hospitalizations increase for third day in a row
The Georgia Department of Public Health reported more than 60,000 cumulative COVID-19 cases in its 3 p.m. update Wednesday.
There are 881 hospitalizations. That’s an increase of 6 patients in 24 hours. This count does not include patients who are being investigated for possible infections by health officials. The number of current hospitalizations also increased on Monday and Tuesday.
