Murder suspects in fatal Upatoi home invasion appear in rare Saturday court hearings

The six people charged with murder in a fatal shooting and home invasion in Upatoi appeared in court Saturday in a series of rare morning Recorder’s Court hearings.

Anthony Foster, 23, Trevonuis Williams, 22, Ceuion English, 23, Laqwane Kindred, 26, Mercedes Kraft, 17 and a female juvenile were in court for the Jan. 18 incident in east Columbus.

Cross Henderson, 21, was shot and killed in the home invasion which occurred on the 8000 block of Upatoi Ridge, according to police. Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan said Henderson was inside a home in Upatoi Ridge with his friend and brother when six people broke in.

Henderson died of his injuries at Piedmont Columbus Regional at 2:07 a.m. that morning. All six individuals were booked into the Muscogee County Jail on Jan. 22.

Their preliminary hearings for the case were moved to Tuesday, Jan. 28, at 9 a.m in Recorder’s Court.
