St. Francis hires new leader following CEO’s resignation. Here are the details.

St. Francis Hospital has named a new chief executive officer.

Melody Trimble has been named the hospital’s new CEO, effective Feb. 10, according to a company news release.

Trimble most recently served in a dual role as CEO of Johnson City Medical Center (JCMC) in Johnson City, Tennessee, and as vice president for Mountain States Health Alliance’s Washington County, Tennessee, division, according to the release.

She formerly worked for hospital chain Health Management Associates in various roles, including as president of the organization’s Health Management Group, in Naples, Florida. She’s held leadership roles at medical centers in Arkansas, Florida and South Carolina, according to the release.

Trimble earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, Kentucky, and a Master of Nursing from the University of Kentucky. She’s also a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, according to the release.

“In addition to her track record of operational success, Melody’s sincere passion for people and commitment to providing high-quality care made her a natural choice for this important leadership role,” said Dr. Joel David Fine, chief of staff for St. Francis Hospital, in a statement.

Jerry Dooley had been serving as the hospital’s interim CEO following the resignation of Dan Jones, who left the post earlier this month to pursue other career opportunities.

“St. Francis Hospital is a vital part of Columbus, and I am so honored to join this talented team as we pursue new and meaningful ways of making communities healthier,” Trimble said in a statement.

Other changes are ongoing at St. Francis. Emory University announced Jan. 8 that St. Francis would be owned by Emory Healthcare and LifePoint Health. It is the first facility owned by the joint venture, according to an Emory news release.
