What drivers need to know about temporary road closure near downtown Columbus
Part of a major thoroughfare in Columbus temporarily has closed.
Wednesday, the Columbus Consolidated Government closed the section of 10th Avenue from Cusseta Road to Eighth Street.
“The closure will allow the Department of Public Works to repair a combined sewer line,” CCG said in a news release. “A signed detour route will be provided to assist motorists with alternate routes around this area.”
The closure is expected to last for approximately three days.
Last week, the Ledger-Enquirer reported that a sinkhole formed on 10th Avenue near Cusseta Road.
A few blocks down 10th Avenue, the westbound lanes of the 11th Street underpass (those going into downtown) are still closed for a Dragonfly Trail construction project. Drivers must reroute via 10th Street or 13th Street.
For more information about the closure, call the Department of Engineering at 706-225-3961 or the Department of Public Works at 706-225-4943.
