Authorities have identified the man killed Wednesday night when he was hit by a car on Columbus’ Buena Vista Road.

The name had been withheld Thursday as Muscogee County Deputy Coroner Dustin Harrelson tried to find the man’s family to notify them.

Coroner Buddy Bryan said Friday that the next of kin has been located.

The victim is 66-year-old Lorenzo Day Jr., he said.

Day was pronounced dead at 11:42 p.m. at the scene of the crash near Greenbriar Drive, he said.

Columbus police are investigating, but have released no additional details on Day’s death.
