'Extreme Makeover: Home Edition' update: 'Move that bus' echoes through Pine Mountain Valley
They finally moved that bus.
Around 4:45 p.m. Saturday, the four-member Williams family saw their new "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" house in Pine Mountain Valley. The family was emotional as the giant bus drove away to reveal their 4,155-square-foot modular home.
Parents Jeremy and Jennifer tearfully embraced. Daughter Josie, 8, jumped up and down with excitement. Son Jacob, 6, sat in his wheelchair and held his hands over his mouth in surprise.
Meanwhile, "Makeover" designers like Michael Moloney and Tracy Hutson wiped tears from their eyes.
Jeremy Williams, who coaches football at Greenville High School, has Lou Gehrig's Disease. Jacob has spina bifida.
An estimated 1,000 people showed up Saturday to participate in cheers of "move that bus!" Some arrived eight hours in advance. They assembled near the home's front entrance and participated in a series of test runs prior to the real event.
Many big names showed up for the Pine Mountain Valley project, including football player Michael Oher and Wilmer Valderrama of "That '70s Show," who briefly mingled with the crowd during Saturday's event.
