Do you have to use your blinker while using the roundabouts in Columbus? Learn the rules
With the number of new roundabouts coming to the area, Columbus drivers will definitely want to brush up on the traffic laws, especially the use of turn signals while in the loop.
If you’re a roundabout newbie, you may feel unsure of the appropriate road etiquette and might be tempted to hesitate using, or bypass them altogether. You’re not alone.
What does the law say?
Although Georgia law does not explicitly require the use of turn signals when entering a roundabout it does have guidelines for exiting:
When entering the roundabout, you don’t need to use your turn signal at all.
While in the roundabout, you should maintain your lane and continue circling counterclockwise.
To exit the roundabout, you should employ your blinker. Use your right turn signal to indicate you are exiting the roundabout.
Common sense safety tips for roundabout users
The Georgia Department of Transportation offers advice while driving.
