1. New gang culture emerges in Columbus: As details unfold concerning recent Columbus shootings, a new picture is emerging of the city’s gang culture. Mayor Teresa Tomlinson said gangs now operating in the city are very different to those in generations past, and the city has had to adapt to current trends while trying to address the problem.

2. Columbus girl, 16, fatally shot at Wilson Homes: A 16-year-old Columbus girl was shot and killed early Friday at Wilson Homes apartments at 3400 Eighth Ave. Lekeshia Moses was pronounced dead of a gunshot wound to the face at 10:57 a.m. at Midtown Medical Center. Late Friday, police issued a murder warrant for Lernard Bonner, 17.

3. Rusty Oliver no longer the Columbus girls soccer coach: Rusty Oliver is no longer the Columbus High girls soccer coach, the Muscogee County School District confirmed to the Ledger-Enquirer on Thursday. Oliver coached the Lady Blue Devils for 17 seasons, leading them to 255 wins and three trips to the state championship game. Oliver declined comment on the coaching change in a message to the Ledger-Enquirer. He remains employed at the school as a science teacher.

4. Fort Benning hosts first LGBT Pride celebration: When a man opened fire in a gay nightclub in Orlando two weeks ago and killed 49 people, Brig. Gen. Tammy Smith responded by offering to help organize an LGBT Pride Month event at Fort Benning. On Monday, about 75 soldiers and civilians — including Maneuver Center of Excellence commander Maj. Gen. Eric Wesley, his wife, Cindy, and Smith’s wife, Tracey, — attended the LGBT Pride Month celebration on main post.

5. Midland man among six arrested in operation targeting online sex predators: A Midland man is among six Georgia residents arrested during a GBI targeting online child predators and victims of child sex trafficking. Sheldon Hinson, 21, was arrested during a two-day operation as part of “Operation Southern Hospitality.” The operation was aimed at arresting those who are willing to exploit children by purchasing sex with a minor and the recruitment of victims of child sex trafficking.
