One dead, two injured following Columbus shooting

One person is dead and two others are injured following a shooting on Rigdon Road, said Muscogee County Chief Deputy Coroner Freeman Worley.

Brandon Scott, 34, of Phenix City was pronounced dead of a single gunshot wound at 2:52 a.m. Friday at the Columbus Midtown Medical Center. His body will be sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab in Decatur for an autopsy.

Worley said the deadly shooting occurred in the 800 Road of Rigdon Road. He said it’s unclear at this time if the others were shot at the same location. Their condition was not immediately released.

Scott’s death marks the 12th homicide in Columbus in 2017 and the eleventh investigated by Columbus police.
