14 year old, 16 year old charged in deadly home invasion

Nearly one month after a Columbus man was shot in a deadly home invasion on Curry Street, a 14-year-old and 16-year-old were charged as adults in the Dec. 18 incident.

The boys, who were taken into custody on Tuesday, were charged with the robbery of 61-year-old Kenneth Moore.

Columbus police were called to the 3000 block of Curry Street around 10:30 p.m. Dec. 18 to investigate a possible shooting. They found Moore lying near his doorway with a gunshot wound in his right shoulder and left buttock.

He was transported to the Columbus Midtown Medical Center, where Muscogee County Chief Deputy Coroner Freeman Worley said he was pronounced dead on Jan. 1.

The coroner's office has ruled Moore's death as a homicide, but Columbus Police Lt. Greg Touchberry said they are waiting for the autopsy results from the Georgia Bureau Investigations crime lab before charging anyone with his death.
