Columbus police ID man killed Monday in shooting at Cusseta Road store

Columbus authorities have identified the man killed Monday in a shooting at a Cusseta Road store.

Khuzaima Mitchell, 21, was shot dead around noon at the entrance to the B&J Food Store, police said.

Officers called at 12:03 p.m. to a reported disturbance and shooting at the business found Mitchell dead in the doorway, authorities said. Another man possibly involved in the shooting left the scene on foot, they said.

Mitchell was pronounced dead from a gunshot wound at 12:40 p.m., Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan said.

Police ask that anyone with information on the case call detectives at 706-653-3400.

The fatal shooting marked Columbus’ 40th homicide for 2019.
