The Columbus Police Department is asking for the public’s help to find a teenage murder suspect involved in a shooting last month.

A murder warrant has been issued for Derick Garnell Jones, 17, CPD announced Monday.

Jones is wanted in the case of Dorian Gibson, 50, who was found with multiple gunshot wounds Jan. 17 at Warren Williams Apartments, 1100 12th St.

“Shortly after the shooting,” CPD’s news release says, “Gibson died from his injuries.”

CPD describes Jones as 5-foot-5 and 130-150 pounds.

Anyone having information about the Gibson case is asked to call Sgt. Dexter Wysinger at 706-225-4469.

It was one of three fatal shootings in Columbus during the weekend leading up to Martin Luther King Day. Those other shootings resulted in the deaths of Cross Henderson, 21, and Jamareion Davis, 13.
