Teen will be charged as an adult in Phenix City shooting, police said

Phenix City police arrested a 17-year-old boy Thursday in connection with a shooting near Whiterock Road and Pine Ridge Trail.

Around 4 p.m. Thursday, Phenix City police arrested the teen. Authorities did not provide the boy’s name, but Lt. Greg Lahr did confirm his age.

The teen will be charged as an adult. He faces charges of attempted murder and shooting into an occupied dwelling, police said.

The shooting occurred around 1:30 a.m. Thursday. Officers were responding to reports of shots fired. When they arrived on the scene, they found an unidentified boy suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital.

As of Thursday, the wounded boy was in stable condition, police said.

The case is still under investigation, and anyone with information is being asked to contact Sgt. A. Avery at 334-448-2841 or Lt. Lahr at 334-448-2835.
