Columbus police make arrest in Joyner Drive shooting that left 16 year old dead

A Columbus teen is charged with murder in a fatal shooting that left another teen dead, authorities said Thursday.

Markeivious Reviere, 17, faces one murder charge in the fatal shooting of Kaleb Morning, according to a news release from the Columbus Police Department.

At 4:52 p.m. Sept. 20, officers were called to a residence in the 6200 block of Joyner Drive in reference to gunfire. Upon arrival, officers found Morning, 16, with gunshot wounds. He was transported by EMS to Piedmont Columbus Regional where he died at 5:39 p.m., the release said.

Morning’s death marked the 52nd homicide of 2021 for Columbus. The total so far this year is 55.

Reviere is being held in the Muscogee County Jail. He will have a preliminary hearing in Recorder’s Court at 9 a.m. Friday.
