Victim in Baker Plaza Drive shooting identified as 42 year old, Muscogee coroner says

An overnight shooting on Baker Plaza Drive in Columbus left a man dead, Muscogee County Chief Deputy Coroner Freeman Worley said.

Early Friday morning, officers with the Columbus Police Department responded to Cross Keys Apartments, 3818 Baker Plaza Drive, in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, officers found Quantion Tate, 42, lying in the doorway with gunshot wounds.

He died at 3:25 a.m., Worley said.

CPD’s homicide unit is currently investigating. Tate’s body will be sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigations Crime Lab for an autopsy.

This incident bring Columbus’ total homicide count for 2021 to 56.
