Victim in fatal Holly Ave. shooting identified as 41 year old, Muscogee coroner says

The victim in a fatal Tuesday evening shooting that also left three others injured has been identified as a 41-year-old Columbus man, authorities said.

Lorenzo Vasquez-Lopez was found with gunshot wounds in the area of Mohawk Street and Holly Avenue, Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan said Wednesday. He was transported by EMS to Piedmont Columbus Regional where he died at 6:37 p.m.

The body will be sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab for an autopsy.

Three other people were injured during this incident, with one in critical condition, Bryan said.

CPD’s Homicide Unit is investigating. The Ledger-Enquirer reached out to CPD for comment and will update this story when more information is available.

This incident marks the 58th homicide of 2021 for Columbus.
