Coroner says remains found in Columbus identified by GBI crime lab, ruled a homicide

Skeletal remains found in Columbus in March have been identified by the GBI crime lab, according to Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan.

The remains, found behind a business on Corporate Ridge Parkway, were identified as those of Sergio Alamo, according to Bryan, who added that Alamo was shot in the head.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice’s National Missing and Unidentified Persons System, Alamo was last seen leaving a group home in Columbus on foot on Nov. 3, 2021, when he was 16.

The victim’s next of kin has been notified.
