Fatal hit-and-run near Fifth Avenue and 20th Street results in arrest, Columbus police say
A suspect in the September hit-and-run death of a man in Columbus has been arrested, the Columbus Police Department announced Wednesday.
Police said they responded at 9:26 p.m on Sept. 20 to the area of Fifth Avenue and 20th Street in reference to a hit-and-run involving a vehicle and two pedestrians.
Police said one victim, Robert Norman, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The other pedestrian suffered injuries consistent with being hit by a vehicle, CPD’s news release says.
The suspect, Christopher McNeil, was arrested Wednesday and charged with homicide by vehicle first degree (felony), hit-and-run (felony) and other traffic-related charges, according to the news release.
McNeil is scheduled to appear in Recorder’s Court for a preliminary hearing at 8 a.m. Thursday.
The case remains under investigation, police said.
