Man arrested in death of pedestrian struck by a vehicle on Victory Drive in Columbus
A man has been arrested in connection with the December death of a woman struck by a vehicle, the Columbus Police Department announced Tuesday.
Police said officers responded on Dec. 10, 2024, to the 3600 block of Victory Drive in reference to a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle
Responding officers found Heather Spillers, 43, with severe injuries, a news release from the department said.
Police said Spillers died the following day.
An investigation revealed James Lane as the driver involved, police said. Lane was arrested Tuesday and charged with second-degree homicide by vehicle (misdemeanor), drivers to exercise due care in relation to pedestrians (misdemeanor) and obstruction (misdemeanor), police said.
Lane’s is scheduled to appear in Recorder’s Court at 8 a.m. Thursday.
