Suspect wanted in wife and child’s shooting in Columbus turns himself, police say

A suspect wanted after his wife and child were shot Monday has turned himself in, the Columbus Police Department announced Thursday.

Police said 28-year-old Jontay Reynolds turned himself into police Thursday after being wanted since Monday on two counts of aggravated assault and a charge of drive-by shooting.

Police responded around 6:43 p.m. Monday to the 1800 block of Susan Lane to reports of shots fired, according to a news release.

Officers found several shell casings in the road but no victim, according to police.

A separate 911 call was received shortly after reporting two gunshot victims at CPD’s east precinct, according to police.

Police identified the victims as a 24-year-old woman and her 7-year-old son. The woman was listed in critical condition and the son had minor injuries, police said.

Police said a preliminary investigation identified Reynolds, the female victim’s husband and the child’s father, as the suspect.
