$5,000 reward offered to solve homicide of Columbus Tech student in Phenix City
A $5,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the personr who killed a Columbus Technical College student in Phenix City five years ago.
The Phenix City Police Department announced the reward in the cold case Monday — the five-year anniversary of Sharmeethia Mason’s death.
During the evening of June 1, 2021, several gunshots heard at the Frederick Douglass Apartments, 1500 11th Ave., in Phenix City prompted witnesses to call 911, police said. Responding officers found Mason, 36, dead from apparent gunshot wounds on the front porch of her apartment, 108-A, according to PCPD.
“Multiple witnesses were interviewed, and leads were followed,” the news release says. “However, all leads have been exhausted in connection with this case.”
Mason was pursuing a career as a pharmacist, according to the PCPD.
“She is survived by her daughter, mother, father, sisters and brothers,” the news release says.
