A 17-year-old was arrested Friday in connection to the fatal shooting of an 11-year-old boy on Apex Road in Columbus.

The Columbus Police Department said Friday that the 17-year-old turned himself in to police in connection with the death of Kadin Harris, according to a news release. The Ledger-Enquirer does not name suspects under 18.

Officers found Harris suffering from gunshot wounds after responding Wednesday night to a shooting in the 800 block of Apex Road. Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan said Harris died at a local hospital at 10:49 p.m. Wednesday.

Police said the 17-year-old is charged with murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and possession of a firearm by person under the age of 18.
