Three Columbus women accused of prostitution

Three women were arrested Monday afternoon on prostitution charges after allegedly making sex-for-money deals with undercover police officers in South Columbus, according to a police report.

Martha Deneane Sims, 42, Patricia Ann Baliey, 26, and Tiarra Wofford, 32, were taken into custody between 3:30 and 4:06 p.m. They are currently being held in the Muscogee County Jail, an official with the jail confirmed Tuesday morning.

The Columbus Police Department’s Special Operations Unit said some of its undercover officers were called to an area near North Lumpkin Road around 3:50 p.m. Monday to investigate prostitution activity. They made contact with all three of the Columbus women, according to a report.

Police said Sims entered one of the officers’ unmarked vehicles and engaged in conversation in which she agreed to perform oral sex and “straight sex” with an officer for $20. Authorities said they found a glass smoking device hidden between the passenger seat and center console of the unmarked car when taking her into custody.

Sims then admitted that the last time she smoked crack was the previous night and she had been arrested previously for prostitution, according to a police report. She faces an additional charge of possession of a drug-related object.

Authorities said Bailey also entered the passenger seat of an unmarked police vehicle and had conversation with an officer in which she agreed to have oral sex with him for $25.

Wofford, who was previously convicted of prostitution, agreed to perform oral sex on an undercover officer for $5, officials stated.

Their preliminary hearings are scheduled for 9 a.m. Wednesday.
